Job Description

This position is an 8 hour/day, regular position and will begin in August 2026. The designation will remain open until filled.

Job Purpose Statement

The paraprofessional facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through independently implementing district‑approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes, addressing specific educational needs of students, providing a safe and optimal learning environment, and giving direct feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The role also represents the district in special education meetings and performs other duties as assigned.

This position will be assigned to the Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education program at Pine Grove, working with children from birth to 5 years old.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress to support teacher expectations, develop improvement methods, and reinforce classroom goals at home.
  • Assess and record student achievement to provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding progress, expectations, and goals.
  • Assist other teachers in implementing curriculum.
  • Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and community agencies to improve student outcomes, develop solutions, and plan curriculum.
  • Instruct students to improve academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
  • Direct instructional assistants, volunteers, and student aides to provide an effective school program and meet individual student needs.
  • Monitor student activities to ensure a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Prepare teaching materials and reports (e.g., grades, attendance, anecdotal records) for lesson plan implementation and documentation of progress.
  • Report incidents (e.g., suspected child abuse, substance abuse) to maintain student safety and adhere to policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Develop job skills necessary to meet changes in the position.
  • Meet applicable district physical ability/health and safety guidelines.
Experience Required

Prior job-related experience working with children and families of 0-5 year-olds.

Education Required

High school diploma (or GED equivalent), plus:

  • Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or a minimum of 72 quarter college credits from a regionally accredited institution, or a passing score on the CBEST exam or PRAXIS Paraprofessional Assessment.
  • Official college transcripts or score report required upon hire.
