The role of Teacher – Classroom (Secondary) is to develop students’ academic and interpersonal skills through academic courses of study, implement district‑approved curriculum, document student progress, address specific educational needs, provide a safe learning environment, and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, and more.

This position will primarily teach 6th grade science and 7th grade math.

• Advise parents and/or guardians on student progress to support teacher’s expectations, develop improvement strategies, and reinforce classroom goals at home.
• Assess students to provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding progress, expectations, goals, and other academic outcomes.
• Assist other teachers in implementing curriculum.
• Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and community agencies to improve student outcomes, develop solutions, and plan curriculum.
• Demonstrate methods required to perform assignments and/or skills (e.g., lab experiments, athletic techniques) to provide students with the necessary skills to perform tasks safely and accurately.
• Direct instructional assistants, volunteers, and student aides to provide an effective school program and address individual student needs.
• Instruct students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.
• Monitor student activities (e.g., classroom, lunch, grounds) to maintain a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Maintain consistent attendance to meet student needs and district expectations.
• Prepare teaching materials and reports (grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to implement lesson plans and document teacher and student progress.
• Report incidents (e.g., fights, suspected abuse) to maintain student safety, provide a positive learning environment, and align with Education Code, district, and school policies.

• Assist other personnel as required to support completion of work activities.
• Participate in various meetings (parent conferences, in‑service training, site meetings) to receive or provide information and meet credential requirements.

• Oregon Teaching License with foundational Mathematics and Science endorsements (minimum) or advanced endorsements in Math and Science, or the ability to obtain them promptly.

• Motivate students, communicate across diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, and evaluate performance. Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
• Knowledge of age‑appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, and appropriate instructional subjects.
• Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish cooperative working relationships, and meet schedules and deadlines. Physical abilities include lifting/carrying, reaching, handling, speaking/hearing, visual acuity, and depth perception.

• Prior experience teaching middle school Math and Science.
• Experience using differentiated instructional strategies.
• Experience with sheltered instruction and ability to employ diverse strategies for varied learning styles.
• Experience working with English Language Learners.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

• Valid Oregon Teaching License with foundational Mathematics and Science endorsements (minimum); advanced endorsements in Math and Science acceptable.

• Drug screening for illegal substances including marijuana, hallucinogens, amphetamines, barbiturates, or other controlled substances (except federally prescribed).
• Post‑offer physical assessment may be required.
• Nationwide criminal history verification; only job‑related convictions considered.

The salary range for the 2026/27 school year is $60,294 to $101,831 for a 192‑day contract.
