Position: K-5 Elementary Teacher - .50 FTE - Hood River Options Academy

Hood River Options Academy K-5 Teacher

This is a half-time Regular, K-5 Elementary teaching position at the Hood River Options Academy, for the 2026/27 school year.

The position of HROA K-5 Teacher is for the purpose of improving student success in academics by making daily attendance contact with students in your classes, supporting students working in approved Hood River County School District online curriculum; contributing to the development of supplemental lesson plans if needed; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

The HROA K-5 teacher coordinates with the HROA educational team to plan, implement, and monitor education programs for assigned students.

Duties include virtual academic support for hybrid instruction (online and in-person) of all K-5th grade HROA students, with the endorsement to teach Elementary
- Multiple Subjects. Additional endorsements in the areas of Reading Intervention and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) are preferred, to allow for flexible assignments within HROA. Teachers will provide instruction both in-person and virtually. This is an in-person position. HROA teachers use digital platforms such as Edmentum, SchoolsPLP and district interventions. Additionally, teachers must proactively seek out students who are struggling, connect with guardians, and be able to self-manage their instructional work schedule to ensure timely and thorough service to students and families.

Qualified applicants must have teaching experience in traditional brick and mortar classes, as well as experience teaching in an online/hybrid system, working with a variety of students, be knowledgeable about Oregon State Assessments and preparations for those exams and most importantly have a passion for working with students with diverse needs.

Essential job functions include providing academic support during scheduled in-person and virtual (students) learning lab hours, creating and supporting application and extension assignments for content areas, collaborating with co-workers and administration for parent conferences to discuss individual student's progress and to interpret school programs as well as discussions regarding specific student and family concerns and needs, meeting the state standards for competent and ethical performance, and maintaining regular and consistent attendance to meet the needs of the position and the students and the expectations of the district.

Other job functions include participating in scheduled professional development opportunities related to online learning as well as traditional building/district development trainings, maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and Administrative Regulations, conferring with colleagues, administrators, students and/or parents when necessary, participating in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, IEP/504, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information, presenting a positive teacher image to the community, collaborating with other staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems, advising parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting teacher's expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment, assessing student for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding students' progress, expectations, goals, etc.,

assisting other teachers for the purpose of implementing curriculum, collaborating with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum, directing instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students, instructing students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study, monitoring student activities…
