Job PurposeThis role involves guiding students through a comprehensive engineering arc, from introductory design thinking to advanced CNC machining and robotics. The successful candidate will foster a project-based environment where students use the Engineering Design Process to solve real-world problems with modern tools.
Responsibilities- Provide supportive and effective classroom management.
- Plan and deliver daily lessons and unit plans incorporating industry and school-wide initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and maintain systems to track tools and equipment.
- Maintain a positive budget and submit required records.
- Attend required meetings and collaborate with the CTE instructor team.
- Stay current with certifications and training hours.
- Attend regional, state, and national student competitions.
- Teach occupational skills and knowledge in safety, machine processes, metal fabrication, welding, heat treating, cutting, communications, and career preparation.
- Organize and maintain an active engineering technology advisory committee.
- Coordinate placement, supervision, and evaluation of internship and cooperative work experience sites.
- Match activities and materials to student needs.
- Design and implement instructional sequences for occupational skill development.
- Ensure instructional activities align with district, school, program, and course goals.
- Establish a safe, orderly, and supportive classroom and laboratory environment.
- Maximize instructional time and use a consistent grading system.
- Select and requisition instructional equipment and materials.
- Maintain inventory records and supervise student out-of-classroom activities.
- Participate cooperatively in school, area, and district-wide activities.
- Adhere to building and district policies.
- Partner with local community college for seamless transitions.
- Commit to continuous improvement and comply with applicable laws.
- Maintain predictable attendance to meet student and district needs.
- Significant experience in engineering, including employment, internships, or volunteer opportunities. Requires 2,000 verifiable hours.
- Software proficiency in Fusion 360, Arduino IDE, Rhino 3D, and Adobe Illustrator (preferred).
- Must hold or be eligible for an Oregon CTE Teaching License and Oregon Department of Education certification.

- Community minded with ability to foster relationships with local industry and Columbia Gorge Community College.
- Relevant experience in manufacturing, welding, woodworking, or CAD/CAM software.
- Ability to motivate and communicate with diverse backgrounds, including youth.
- Manufacturing experience.
- Oregon CTE Teaching license or verifiable industry certification.
- High school teaching experience.
- Valid Oregon CTE Teaching License.
- Experience with instructional strategies for English Language Learners.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
- Drug screening for controlled substances (excluding federally recognized prescription medication).
- Post offer physical abilities assessment.
- Background check for convictions related to duties.
