Systems Engineer, Engineering Design & Technologists
Purpose of Position
Develop technical solutions to complex problems that require regular, detailed analysis and investigation, ingenuity, and creativity without appreciable direction. Interact with senior personnel on significant technical matters that often require coordination across organizations. Responsible for ensuring the technical integrity and quality of the systems engineering work throughout the program life cycle. This position interfaces directly with customers and across all functional groups.
The role will provide technical leadership and oversight across all program phases, from requirements definition and flow-down to system verification and validation, in compliance with engineering processes and procedures.
- Participate in the full-lifecycle engineering design and development efforts.
- Collect product/program requirements and publish them as requirements and trade studies.
- Oversees product testing capabilities and methodologies.
- Develop verification and validation test plans to test products against requirements.
- Execute verification and validation test plans and document results.
- Developing manufacturing specifications, including verification plans.
- Develop and maintain interface control documents.
- Collaborate in an integrated product team environment.
- Evaluates and/or shapes customer requirements, constraints, and operational expectations.
- Provides support to fielded systems, leading troubleshooting efforts, live demonstrations, and Engineering Investigations to improve our products.
- Coordinates development of technical content and conducts system design reviews.
- Provides technical sales support to the Program Management and Business Development team(s).
- Identifies and captures technical opportunities.
- Monitors and mitigates technical risks.
Ensure tasks are completed within the timeline and budget. - Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience, master’s degree and 3+ years of related experience.
- Experience with U.S. DoD product development.
- Demonstrated experience with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and other common engineering test equipment.
- Experience with developing mechanical fixtures and support hardware that enable repeatable, reliable testing.
- Knowledge of reliability and/or system safety, preferred.
- Physically able to lift up to 20 pounds (materials/equipment)
- Effective use of computer, laptop, cell phone and other mobile device to exchange information.
