Engineering Project Manager (VTOL UAS).

Are you an experienced aerospace engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical innovation and flawless execution? We are seeking a high‑caliber Engineering Project Manager to spearhead the development, manufacturing, and sustainment of cutting‑edge Vertical Takeoff and Landing Unmanned Aircraft Systems (VTOL UAS). Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, you will drive multiple cross‑functional teams, steering complex hardware products from initial proposal through successful production launch.

This 100% onsite role offers the opportunity to directly influence company revenue and shape the next generation of unmanned flight.

Meet the Team

The Airbus Helicopters Flexrotor Program offers one of the most sophisticated small tactical unmanned aerial systems (STUAS) with vertical take‑off and landing (VTOL). It can be used day or night by US and allied forces for a diverse range of intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions on land and at sea.

Your Challenges Engineering Project Management (90%)
  • Create and maintain the master engineering project schedule, risks, and issues register for projects of all sizes and phases.
  • Drive project team’s weekly goals setting and achievements, maintain status knowledge with efficient small meetings.
  • Ensure all necessary engineering deliverables and coordination are accounted for, including approvals, BOM, drawing release, work‑instruction development, configuration control, hardware lead‑times, inspections, manufacturing trials, tool‑kits, parts kits, verification testing, and reporting.
  • Identify and track risks and issues, determine dependencies, prioritize, assign ownership, and mitigate and resolve.
  • Forecast, identify, and remove obstacles so the team may maintain focus on core deliverables.
  • Create work breakdown structure (WBS) from team input and complete missing fundamental steps.
  • Analyze high‑level milestones, dependencies, critical path, free slack, resource utilization, risk, issues, and cost.
  • Create weekly status briefs and materials for project reviews.
  • Maintain a list of backlog projects and ensure periodic review and disposition of priority.
Process Development (5%)
  • Develop and continually improve the engineering project management function, its processes, and tools.
Technical Administration (5%)
  • Coordinate and perform necessary hands‑on technical work, engineering change process (EC) documentation, and other administrative tasks.
Your Boarding Pass
  • Must possess a Bachelor of Science degree or greater in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • Ten (10)+ years’ professional experience with a combination of the following:
    • Five (5)+ years as a product development engineer, leading hardware product through development cycle phases.
    • Five (5)+ years as a project manager managing multiple engineering projects through all phases.
    • Experience producing integrated project schedules and reports in MS Project or similar.
