Field Service Technician (Aviation Systems)
Location:
Hood River, OR
Travel: ~15% (1–3 week trips, domestic + international)
OverviewJoin a team deploying advanced aviation navigation systems used by civil and military customers worldwide. This is a hands‑on, field‑based role focused on installation, testing, and support of precision landing systems ong fit for someone technical who enjoys travel, problem‑solving, and working directly with customers.
Key Responsibilities- Lead on‑site system deployments, including installation and configuration
- Perform system calibration, acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), and support flight checks
- Train airport personnel and pilots on system use and maintenance
- Provide remote troubleshooting and customer support
- Support regulatory approvals (e.g., transmit approvals, frequency licensing)
- Partner with engineering and product teams to resolve technical issues
- Document service activity, manage RMAs, and track system performance metrics
- Assist with production builds, testing, and technical documentation
- Support test site operations and develop system positioning proposals
- Bachelor’s in Electronics, Communications, IT, or related field. Relatable experience in ILS or Radar can substitute for the degree requirement.
- 3–5 years in field services, electronics, IT, or similar technical role
- Strong troubleshooting skills (networking + electronics)
- Ability to read technical drawings and use test equipment (oscilloscopes, DVMs, etc.)
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
- Valid passport (or ability to obtain)
- Proficiency with standard office tools
- Airport or airbase operations
- Drone operations (Part 107)
- Fiber optics, surveying equipment, or GPS tools
- Mix of office and field environments, including outdoor work in varying conditions
- Moderate physical activity (lifting equipment, climbing, working on‑site at airports)
