Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator

As an Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator, you'll play a key role in protecting public health and the environment by ensuring industrial wastewater meets regulatory standards before entering treatment systems. Based in Hood River, OR, you will monitor industrial pretreatment systems that remove contaminants from wastewater generated by industrial processes. Working alongside a collaborative operations team and the City of Hood River, you'll help ensure compliance with environmental regulations, system performance, and detailed record keeping and make recommendations to City personnel to ensure regulatory compliance.
In this role, you'll ensure the integrity and performance of both control and electrical systems by supporting installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair activities, with a strong emphasis on electrical safety, system reliability, and regulatory compliance in a continuous operation environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Track and interpret pretreatment program regulations
- Identify requirements and responsibilities of POTW and industrial citizens
- Review industrial process changes and needs that may affect discharge to POTW
- Recommend revisions in local pretreatment regulations and the POTW pretreatment program to keep them current with federal and state requirements and to meet the process needs of the POTW
- Collect, analyze, and record water quality samples to verify compliance with discharge permits and regulatory requirements as required by program requirements
- Review self-monitoring reports and other monitoring data and determine compliance status
- Calculate and report loading rates for City use
- Provide technical assistance to client in determination of appropriate enforcement actions (based on the approved Enforcement Response Plan)
- Assist POTW operations department in diagnosing process problems and identifying the source
- Draft Annual Reports and others as required
- Perform and document routine inspections
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards, including monitoring data and compliance records
- Maintain a current list of industrial users and open communication channels
- Draft discharge permits for issuance
- Provide assistance to client in development of Enforcement Response Plan, and Technically-Based Local Limits
- Support emergency response activities
- Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and clients to continuously improve operations
- Perform other duties as required
- Ability to interpret technical instructions, operating procedures, and regulatory guidelines
- Strong attention to detail, record keeping, and problem-solving skills
- BS/BA degree
- Possess a valid driver's license
- High School Diploma
- BS/BA degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry or related field
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, pumps, valves, and treatment processes
- State certification in wastewater or water treatment operations
- Experience with industrial pre-treatment systems and regulatory compliance (e.g., EPA, local authorities)
- Familiarity with SCADA or automated control systems
- Basic lab sampling and analytical experience

Posted Salary Range:
Minimum $62,400.00 to Upper $65,700.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
