Job Title: Production Technician

Location: Hood River, OR

Employment Type: Temp to perm (initially 9-12 month contract)

Industry: Manufacturing

Compensation: $25/hr

Schedule: 1st shift, M-F, 40 hours per week

About the Opportunity:

The Production Technician is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, inspecting, and validating automotive products and components to ensure they meet quality, performance, and reliability requirements. This role will work hands-on with electrical and mechanical systems, including motors, inverters, engines, transmissions, circuit boards, and related automotive components. The ideal candidate will be comfortable using electrical test equipment, diagnostic tools, mechanical measurement devices, and hand tools to identify issues, perform root-cause troubleshooting, and verify proper operation.

The Production Technician reports directly to the Site Manager and will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to identify failures, document test results, and support continuous improvement.

What You'll Do:
  • Read, interpret, and evaluate work requests, technical instructions, schematics, wiring diagrams, and test procedures related to automotive components and systems.
  • Perform functional and diagnostic testing of automotive products including electric motors, inverters, engines, transmissions, and associated mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using diagnostic equipment, multimeters, electrical test equipment, mechanical tools, and other specialized testing equipment.
  • Test and troubleshoot electrical circuit boards, wiring, connectors, sensors, actuators, and related electronic components to identify failures and determine root causes.
  • Inspect, measure, and evaluate components and assemblies using calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, and other precision measurement equipment.
  • Perform mechanical inspections and functional checks on motors, engines, transmissions, gearboxes, and other automotive assemblies to verify proper operation.
  • Follow established test procedures and document test results, failures, defects, and troubleshooting findings accurately and consistently.
  • Diagnose product failures by isolating electrical, electronic, and mechanical faults and determining appropriate corrective actions.
  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, electrical test equipment, and mechanical diagnostic equipment to perform testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to investigate product issues, identify root causes, and support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail while ensuring testing is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established quality and safety standards.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring failures, process issues, and opportunities to improve product reliability and test procedures.
Job Requirements What You'll Bring:

Minimum 2 years of related experience

What Sets You Apart:
  • Automotive or Manufacturing Experience Encouraged
  • 1 year or more of experience with motors or invertors
  • Understanding of ISO Quality standards related to manufacturing and ability to use precise measuring equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Must have a strong understanding of the relationship between tooling and various metal compounds.
  • Works with minimal supervision and manages the process.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules and regulations.
