Overview

Position: Assistant Pastor

Summary: The Assistant Pastor will support the Lead Pastor in leading the congregation, with a focus on administrative organization, strategic growth and campus management. With experience in administration and strategic development the Assistant Pastor will leverage these strengths to cultivate spiritual growth, foster community engagement, and implement plans for ministry growth and accountability.

Long-term Vision

Sustainable Growth: Ensure church ministries and resources are aligned with the mission, vision, and overall health of the church. Recruit and develop leaders within each area to ensure sustainability and prepare for growth.

Property Stewardship: Maintain the church campus as a welcoming and well-cared-for space through the work of house residents, staff and church members. Create a long-term maintenance plan that includes both volunteer service and professional oversight to keep the property in excellent condition.

Personal Leadership Development: Commit to ongoing personal spiritual development through regular prayer, Bible study, and spiritual disciplines. Pursue opportunities for leadership and ministry training (e.g., conferences, online courses, theological studies) to stay updated on ministry trends and leadership techniques. Maintain relationships with mentors, both within and outside the church, who can offer guidance and accountability in personal and professional growth. Also, build peer networks for support and collaboration.

Conduct regular self-assessments to evaluate strengths, areas for improvement, and progress toward leadership goals. Work with the Lead Pastor and accountability partners to refine these areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations
  • Worship Director
    :
    Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and worship team to plan and lead engaging, spirit-filled worship services. Mentor and develop worship team members to ensure spiritual and musical growth. Incorporate diverse worship styles to connect with various demographics. Oversee technical elements of worship (sound, lighting, media/slides) to enhance the service. Develop a long-term worship strategy aligned with church growth and outreach objectives.
  • Ministry Leadership
    :
    Lead various ministries that encourage spiritual growth, discipleship, and community. Assist in planning and implementation of small group studies, retreats, and events tailored to various groups in the church. Develop a mentorship system to foster spiritual maturity and leadership within each ministry. Collaborate with other ministry leaders to ensure integration into the broader church vision.
  • Ministry House Oversight & Management
    :
    • House Supervision
      :
      Oversee the operations of the house on the church campus, ensuring that it remains in good condition and aligned with the church’s mission. Provide spiritual guidance and leadership to the residents living in the house. Hold regular check-ins with residents to ensure their well-being and alignment with community standards per the Ministry House agreement.
    • Service Hours Management
      :
      Maintain Service Hour System:
      Maintain the system used for assigning and tracking service hours required from residents for maintaining the campus (landscaping, cleaning, minor repairs, etc.).
    • Monitor and Accountability
      :
      Ensure each resident completes their assigned service hours, providing accountability through regular reporting and reviews.
    • Task Delegation & Safety
      :
      Work with residents to assign tasks that align with their skills and interests, while ensuring all essential work is completed efficiently. Provide or coordinate necessary training for residents to safely and effectively complete assigned tasks.
    • Property Maintenance
      :
      Coordinate with the church’s facilities team (or external contractors) to bring awareness to major repairs or maintenance that require professional attention. Ensure the property is kept up to safety and aesthetic standards, reflecting well on the church’s image. Organize annual work days where the congregation can participate in maintaining the campus alongside house residents.
    • Community Engagement & Discipleship
      :
      Foster a sense of community among house residents by hosting regular devotionals, house meetings, and group service projects. Create opportunities for residents to serve the larger church community through their service hours, ensuring they contribute meaningfully to the life of the church.
  • Pastoral Care & Discipleship
    :
    Preach at least once a month in support of the vision of the Senior Leaders and the direction of the Lead Pastor. Assist in providing pastoral care through counseling, visitations, and spiritual support for the congregation and house residents. Lead or participate in discipleship initiatives that foster spiritual growth. Assist with preaching, teaching, and leading church services as needed. Build strong, meaningful relationships with congregation members and house residents to foster community.
