Boys Lacrosse Assistant Coach - FTE - Hood River Valley High School

This is for a 1.0 FTE Boys Lacrosse Assistant Coach,and will begin with the
25/26 Lacrosse season in March, 2026.

• Include the names and contact information for three (3) professional references.

• Assist in the direction and supervision of organized practices sessions during the regulated season; to include seasonal goals and objectives.
• Work cooperatively with parents, other coaches, staff, and support programs.
• Assists the Head Coach and Athletic Director in maintaining the care for athletic facilities and aid in preparation of the facilities for athletic competition.
• Assists Head Coach and Athletic Director in purchasing equipment, supplies and uniforms for the particular sport.
• Assists Head Coach and Athletic Director in game scheduling when needed, especially at the JV level.
• Assist in the responsibility to conduct pre-season meeting with all athletes and parents, outlining schedules, student athletic contracts, and Student Athletic Handbook.
• Works to improve skills and knowledge of each athlete and the team as a whole.
• Assist in the organization of team members according to competitive levels.
• Enforces appropriate team rules and team discipline.
• Follows guidelines and principles of sportsmanship.
• Adheres to requirements of athletic eligibility.
• Adheres to District Athletic Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures of league or other governing body rules.
• Works harmoniously with high school Head Coach, community volunteers, parents, and school personnel.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance, is punctual and fulfills the requirements of the position.
• Communicates effectively (both orally and written) with students, parents, officials, and staff.
• Assists in submitting rosters, equipment and uniform inventories and other reports as required.
• Coordinates end of year awards, communications, and events.
• Assists in monitoring expenditures in relation to budget and assist as in monitoring proper use, care, and return of uniforms and other assigned equipment.
• Assists in the supervision and/or arranges for proper supervision of student/athletes during practices, games, travel, and related activities.
• Adheres to all safety protocols, and ensures student athletes are in compliance.
• Assists in the coordination and responsibility ofall media communications related to Girls Lacrosse at the high school level.
• Consults with Head Coach, Athletic Director and Administration concerning playing conditions, safety concerns, program improvements, player performance, outside complaints, and other related matters.
• Completes all district required trainings in a timely manner.

• Previous youth program or school sport coaching experience.
• Subject knowledge of Lacrosse.
• Ability to motivate student athletes in a positive manner.
• Ability to teach skills, fundamentals and game strategy.
• Ability to collaborate with youth programs, students, parents, the community, staff, and other HRVHS coaches.
• Ability to coach in collaboration with the Head Girls Lacrosse Coach.
• Willingness to coach after school, travel, and supervise students.
• Meet attendance requirements for the position.
• Possess current First Aid and CPR certification.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification or ASEP Certifications;
  Concussion training, Heat Illness Prevention, Performance enhancing Drugs & Substances Training, First Aid/CPR Certification.
• Successful fundraising experience.
• Experience with in school recruitment of athletes and team building.

• Skills possessed will exemplify a moral character that is consistent with being a positive role model forhigh school students.
• Knowledge of lacrosse at the high school level (to include recent rule changes). Through cooperation and communication with HRVHS Head Coach, assist in the development of a system of play that can be effectively communicated with to implement at the high school level. Know how to communicate effectively with athletes and parents.
• Ability to work harmoniously with others. To organize and manage students time effectively. To use problem solving strategies consistently. Adjusts to performing practices in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED equivalent minimum; college degree preferred.

• Previous Lacrosse coaching experience.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish helpful.

HRCSD mandatory annual training for all employees; NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification or ASEP Certifications;
Concussion training, Heat Illness Prevention, Performance enhancing Drugs & Substances Training, First Aid/CPR Certification.
