The JobThe Electrical/Control System Engineer I will work on‑site, Monday through Friday, from our Birmingham, Alabama office. The role involves designing, testing, implementing, and completing projects while meeting specifications and budget requirements.
The Skills You Need- Design electrical control panels and systems to meet project specifications and division design standards.
- Coordinate with panel production personnel in fabrication of control panels.
- Develop procedures and plans for factory and field testing of control panels and systems.
- Develop PLC and HMI applications per project specifications using division/industry standards and best practices.
- Direct activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
- Technical document writing including testing procedures, training plans and sequence of operations.
- Notify project and group managers of schedule/budget goal issues.
- Request quotes from vendors and verify equipment meets specification requirements.
- Provide customers with technical support via phone, remote access, and on‑site service.
- Attend training and continuing education related to the industry.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Basic computer software skills using Microsoft Office Suite, e‑mail, internet, AutoCAD.
- Entry‑level to three (3) years of related work experience.
- Willingness and ability to learn technical skills.
- Self‑motivated and able to design, write, test software, and provide hardware services for small projects without significant supervision.
- Knowledge and experience with specialized tools and test equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to interact with customers, vendors, employees, and subcontractors.
- Hours:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. - Paid Time Off and holiday policy:
Up to 120 hours of PTO in your first year plus 8 paid holidays. - Benefits:
