Graphic Designer – Signage & Print Production
Location: Hoover, AL / On-site
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (some overtime as needed)

About Alpha Graphics HooverIndividually owned and locally operated, Alpha Graphics Hoover is a print and signage shop producing a wide range of products from small-format items like business cards, books, brochures, and invitations to large-format signage like window graphics and channel letter signs. We also create promotional items and help clients design interior spaces that bring their brands to life.
Role SummaryWe’re looking for a Graphic Designer who can translate customer ideas into visually engaging, on-brand designs and produce clean, print-ready files for signs, banners, decals, vehicle graphics, and a wide range of printed products. You’ll work closely with our sales and production teams to ensure designs are accurate and prepared correctly for our equipment and finishing processes.
What You’ll DoDesign & Layout
- Create and revise artwork for a variety of products including:
- Large format: banners, yard signs, window graphics, wall murals, vinyl decals, etc.
- Small format: business cards, brochures, menus, invitations, books, etc.
- Translate customer direction into polished layouts that match brand guidelines
- Prepare proofs for customer approval, incorporating edits quickly and accurately
- Set up print-ready files: correct size, bleed, safe area, color mode, fonts/links, and resolution
- Use/prepare vector cut paths and registration marks for vinyl and contour cutting
- Spot and correct common file issues (low-res images, missing fonts, RGB vs CMYK expectations)
- Apply basic color adjustments and understand color expectations for print vs screen
- Communicate clearly with the sales and production teams on timelines, scope, and revisions
- Provide recommendations on materials, finishes, and design options when needed
- Coordinate with production to ensure files match equipment capabilities
- Maintain consistent quality standards and attention to detail across all jobs
- Follow job tickets and help improve templates, standards, and the proofing process
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field
- 1+ years of graphic design experience or equivalent portfolio work
- Proficiency in the Adobe Suite, specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
- Understanding of design principles including layout, typography, color theory, hierarchy, etc.
- Understanding of designing for print including vector vs raster, scaling, bleed, safe areas, file packaging, etc.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects with frequent revisions and short timelines
- Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset
