Job DescriptionThe Private Wealth Management Credit Portfolio Manager is responsible for analyzing, underwriting, and negotiating credit decisions for PWM credit requests submitted by Private Wealth and Lending Advisors. This role will serve on the First Line of Defense, analyze new PWM credit and underwrite new or renewed credit exposure, gather information, and perform in-depth research to identify, quantify, and mitigate underwriting risk.
The role will develop strong working relationships with client management, internal teammates, credit officers, and other bankers.
- Reviews more complex and customized Private Wealth transactions above a designated threshold against Regions credit standards, validates the appropriate risk rating, and recommends credit decision with limited oversight from management
- Structures PWM credit products to meet unique PWM client credit needs while minimizing credit risk with limited oversight
- Prepares credit packages for new and renewed debt products including underwriting, analyzing financial statements and projections, utilizing financial models, determining risk rating, and identifying risk mitigation
- Monitors and manages credit exposure within Regions Private Wealth portfolio and identifies opportunities for exposure reduction or new credit opportunities
- Manages and conducts timely portfolio monitoring and servicing activities for an assigned portfolio
- Manages past due and maturing loans and workflow for an assigned portfolio
- Ensures compliance with internal PWM, commercial loan policy, consumer loan policy, credit risk appetite, and external regulatory requirements
- Documents exceptions to credit policy with rationale and risk mitigation
- Assesses risk issues using standard procedures and makes sound decisions
- Engages with WAs and LAs for assigned portfolio, participates in client planning and deal structuring by leading deal discussions and negotiations
- Contributes to pricing decisions for PWM credit solutions
- Reviews loan documents for accuracy prior to closing
- May provide coaching and mentorship for other team members and field partners
- May consult with internal and external clients on PWM credit solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- Five (5) years of experience in commercial or PWM underwriting
- Commercial or Private Wealth management underwriting experience
- Knowledge of Consumer and Commercial Loan Products and Compliance issues
- Prior experience with Moody s Risk Analyst (MRA)
- Successful completion of Moody s online credit training or other major corporate credit training program
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent Excel and MRA spreadsheet skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills
