Overview

The Agentic Systems Architect is responsible for the design, evolution, and governance of intelligent, agent-based systems that enable autonomous and semi-autonomous workflows across the organization. This role defines architectural patterns, ensures scalability and reliability, and partners closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to deliver safe, effective agentic solutions aligned with organizational strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Design and evolve a plugin-based architecture (leveraging standards such as Agents, Skills, Hooks, and Model Context Protocol) to extend Claude Code, enabling the AI to securely interface with internal SDLC tool chains and proprietary data.
  • Develop and optimize production AI applications through effective prompt engineering, context management, and tool‑use patterns.
  • Develop highly reliable tool‑use patterns and context‑hydration strategies to ensure Claude Code has the precise system access and context required to execute SDLC tasks autonomously.
  • Design and deliver AI systems that comply with applicable data privacy and regulatory requirements, including FERPA and COPPA, within regulated EdTech environments.
  • Design developer‑focused tooling with a strong emphasis on usability, adoption, onboarding, documentation, and continuous feedback loops.
  • Apply a security‑first approach to local and remote agent execution, implementing robust sandboxing, strict permission scopes, and secure authentication flows for CLI‑based AI tools to prevent destructive actions or data leakage.
  • Drive the governance strategy for the AI SDLC platform, defining how plugins are evaluated, versioned, approved, and monitored to prevent unauthorized system changes or degradation of engineering quality.
  • Lead estimation, scoping, and planning activities for AI/ML initiatives, partnering with executive and senior stakeholders to prioritize and deliver strategic platform milestones.
  • Lead continuous improvement across system architecture, engineering quality, and AI model integration through hands‑on leadership and a focus on measurable outcomes.
  • Travel required up to 25%.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • 8 years of experience as a Lead Software Engineer, Platform Architect, or AI Engineering Lead with a Bachelor’s degree or 6+ years with a Master’s degree or 5+ years with a PhD.
  • Proven experience building AI‑enabled developer tooling, function‑calling (tool‑use) pipelines, or extensible agentic platforms in production. Familiarity with emerging standards such as the Model Context Protocol is a major plus. Strong background in architecting modular, extensible platforms and scalable system designs.
  • Proficiency in Type Script/Node.js and/or Python, with deep expertise in designing modular APIs, SDKs, or CLI‑based tools. Strong understanding of REST, Graph

QL, and event‑driven architectures. Practical experience with prompt engineering, context management, and production AI application patterns; familiarity with RAG or embedding‑based retrieval preferred.
  • Working knowledge of data privacy and compliance requirements in regulated environments, including FERPA and COPPA.
  • Deep understanding of secure system design, specifically concerning authentication flows (OAuth, token management for tool chains), Role‑Based Access Control (RBAC), and mitigating AI vulnerabilities such as insecure tool execution or prompt injection.
  • Intimate knowledge of the modern Software Development Lifecycle and practical experience integrating with core Dev Ops and project management tool chains (e.g., Git Hub, Confluence, Jira, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Experience estimating, scoping, and delivering AI/ML initiatives within Agile delivery models and SDLC best practices.
Benefits
  • Multiple health, dental, and vision plans, including medical plans with zero employee premiums.
  • 401(k) plan with a company match.
  • 16 paid holidays, which include 2 floating holidays and a winter shutdown from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day.
  • Paid Time Off.
  • Comprehensive maternity and fertility/family building benefits.
  • Paid bonding leave when a new child joins your family.
  • Access to on‑demand mental health resources.
  • Life and short and long‑term…
