Title: Scrum Master
Location: Hoover, AL
Duration: 12 months (Contract to hire)
Max PR: $60/hr - $64/hr
Note: Hybrid schedule – Onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Serve as facilitator and Agile coach for up to two development teams
- Provide leadership to help teams adhere to Scrum rules and SAFe principles
- Remove impediments within and outside the team
- Create and foster an environment of transparency and continuous improvement
- Proactively communicate with team members, management, and external stakeholders
- Focus teams on delivering planned value and achieving stated objectives
- Reinforce the SAFe framework and Scrum principles; facilitate all standard ceremonies
- Guide teams in applying Agile/Scrum practices and values
- Guide teams in self‑organization and filling intentional framework gaps
- Assess Scrum maturity and coach teams to higher, sustainable maturity levels
- Facilitate work execution and help remove impediments by engaging appropriate personnel
- Build a continuous improvement culture through retrospectives, problem‑solving coaching, conflict resolution, and escalation as needed
- Facilitate discussion, decision‑making, and conflict resolution within the team
- Coordinate with Dev Ops, System Teams, Shared Services, and other Scrum Masters to share information
- Assist with internal/external communication, improve transparency, and radiate information
- Support and educate the Product Owner on backlog maintenance and prioritization
- Guide teams through estimation and forecasting
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Six years of relevant business/development support, user–story creation, writing, and estimation
- Experience with Agile and/or Scrum
- Ability to communicate technical information to non‑technical audiences
- First‑level Scrum Master certification (CSM or PSM I) and/or SAFe Practitioner certification
- Six years of project management experience, preferably in IT
- Extensive Agile/Scrum experience; second‑level Scrum Master certification (CSP or PSM II) and/or SAFe Advanced Scrum Master certification
- Six years in a Scrum Master role for a software development team, diligently applying Scrum principles
- Knowledge of other Agile approaches (XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.)
- Experience with Agile techniques:
User Stories, ATDD, TDD, continuous integration/testing, pairing, automated testing, Agile games - Working knowledge of SAFe
- Experience as a team leader and in coaching, training, or developing teams
- Strong servant‑leadership mindset, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict‑resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and transparency
- Knowledge of documented patterns/techniques to fill Scrum framework gaps (e.g., burndown techniques, retrospective formats, bug handling)
- Excellent collaboration, facilitation, and conflict‑management skills
