Overview
The Senior Project Manager (SPM) drives and facilitates the successful planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure of Technical Consulting projects. The SPM works with clients to ensure appropriate governance is applied to each project based on scope and offering. The SPM is the client’s first line of contact once a project has started and serves as the focal point of all communications to the client and to Broadcom’s Mainframe Division, including Technical Consulting, Engineering, and Support or Development.
Successful project delivery is the key performance metric for this role.
- Lead and oversee the end-to-end management of Technical Consulting projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and governance requirements.
- Serve as the primary client liaison and coordinate communications across stakeholders, including the Mainframe Division and project teams.
- Develop and maintain project artifacts (plans, schedules, risk and issue logs, governance documents) and ensure alignment with PMI or equivalent methodologies.
- Monitor project performance, identify risks, implement mitigation plans, and report status to sponsors and leadership.
- Drive execution and ownership of project success, balancing competing priorities, resources, and timelines.
- Facilitate effective decision making with independence and accountability for project outcomes.
- 8+ years of project management experience, preferably in an IT environment.
- Experience managing Mainframe and/or Open Systems Software projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven mastery of IT project management with Work Breakdown Structures, Project Plans, Risk & Issue Management, and Project Governance; experience applying PMI or similar methodologies.
- Knowledge of Project Management methodologies; PMP Certification or equivalent experience;
Agile frameworks experience is a plus. - Strong organizational and planning skills; proven track record delivering large or complex projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines; effective decision making and accountability for project outcomes.
- Technical proficiency and customer-facing skills; capable of engaging with clients on scope, staffing, invoicing, and resource allocations.
- Typically works with a North America geographic focus and may require business travel up to 25% annually.
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of related experience required.
- PMP Certification or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Annual base salary range: USD 100,000 to 160,000.
- Eligible for discretionary annual bonus and equity grants, including annual equity awards, subject to plan documents and award agreements.
