Sheppard Services is seeking an experienced Shop Operations Manager to lead the daily operation of our electric motor, pump and rotating-equipment repair facility in Theodore, Alabama.

This is an on-site leadership position responsible for shop scheduling, employee performance, labor productivity, quality, safety and on-time completion. The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with the ability to manage people, priorities and job costs.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the daily and weekly shop production schedule.
  • Assign and supervise shop technicians, winders, machinists, mechanics and helpers.
  • Monitor actual labor hours and material usage against job estimates.
  • Identify blocked jobs, material delays, capacity constraints and schedule risks.
  • Maintain accurate job status and realistic completion dates.
  • Enforce company safety procedures and exercise stop-work authority when necessary.
  • Ensure repairs meet customer specifications and applicable ANSI/EASA AR100 requirements.
  • Verify that inspections, testing and repair documentation are complete before equipment is released.
  • Manage attendance, employee performance, training and cross-training.
  • Control shop overtime within established guidelines.
  • Identify scope changes, cost exposure and margin risks before additional work is performed.
  • Investigate rework and warranty issues and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • Seven or more years of experience in electric motor, pump, gearbox or rotating-equipment repair.
  • At least three years of experience supervising skilled shop employees.
  • Working knowledge of motor and pump disassembly, inspection, winding, machining, balancing, assembly and testing.
  • Experience managing production schedules, labor performance and competing job priorities.
  • Ability to understand job estimates, labor budgets and job-cost reports.
  • Strong leadership, communication and computer skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in an EASA service center and knowledge of ANSI/EASA AR100 are preferred.

This position reports to the Vice President of Operations. It is a hands‑on leadership role, but the primary responsibility is managing the people, workflow, cost and quality of the repair shop.
