Job Summary

The Transmission Journeyman Lineman B is responsible for performing safe and efficient construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized transmission lines. This role requires advanced technical knowledge, physical endurance, and a strong commitment to safety. The ideal candidate will work both independently and collaboratively to ensure the reliability and integrity of the transmission system across diverse environments.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Safely perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized conductors.
  • Set poles and anchors in accordance with safety policies and specifications.
  • Operate aerial devices and climb wood, steel, and other structures to perform line work.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition.
  • Assist in assembling, framing, and erecting poles and basic line structures.
  • Install all types of compression connections and assist with wire stringing and sagging.
  • Read and interpret blueprints; assist in identifying and resolving structural issues.
  • Work independently on de‑energized lines and contribute effectively within a team.
  • Properly install and remove PPE and cover‑up materials; inspect rubber goods and safety equipment.
  • Understand and apply grounding procedures, minimum approach distances, and flag/tag protocols.
  • Tie various lineman knots and utilize hand lines appropriately.
  • Perform basic bucket rescue and escape procedures.
  • Identify materials used in transmission line work and understand proper equipment setup.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to complete transmission projects safely and efficiently.
Qualifications And

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Journeyman‑level experience in transmission line installation and maintenance.
  • Valid CDL Class A license.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications; pole top rescue competency.
  • Ability to pass drug, alcohol, and background checks.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination.
  • Willingness to travel long distances and work extended hours in various locations.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Availability to work overtime as required.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong understanding of utility industry operations and safety standards.
  • Ability to identify and work with various materials used in transmission line work.
  • Knowledge of grounding procedures, equipment setup, and induced voltage.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and leadership.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Willing and Able To
  • Travel long distances on short notice.
  • Work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Work in all weather conditions, including storms and inclement environments.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry over 50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and standing.
  • Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms with tools and materials.
  • Ability to climb and work from poles, towers, and other elevated structures.
  • Maintain visual acuity to identify hazards, materials, and system conditions.
  • Perform rigorous physical labor outdoors for extended periods.
