Role Description The Part-Time Refugee Resettlement Case Manager will support newly arrived refugees and immigrants by coordinating services that promote stability, self-sufficiency, and community integration. This is a part-time, on-site role based in Hoover, AL, involving regular face-to-face interaction with clients, partners, and community resources. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing individualized service plans, and connecting clients to housing, employment, education, healthcare, and legal support.

The Case Manager will provide ongoing case management, including referrals, appointment scheduling, transportation coordination, and advocacy with service providers. Additional tasks include maintaining accurate and timely case notes, collecting required documentation, preparing reports, and collaborating with staff and volunteers to organize workshops and orientation sessions. The role also involves helping clients navigate cultural adjustments, setting realistic goals, and building supportive relationships that respect each person’s background and strengths.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated case management and client support skills, including intake, needs assessment, goal setting, and follow-up.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with sensitivity to diverse cultural, linguistic, and religious backgrounds.
  • Organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize, manage multiple cases, and maintain detailed records.
  • Experience building community partnerships and coordinating with social services, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and government agencies.
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, resource-limited environment.
  • Proficiency with basic office software and case documentation tools; ability to maintain confidential information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of refugee resettlement processes, immigration systems, or social services strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in English required; additional language skills (such as Arabic, Swahili, Spanish, Dari, Pashto, or other commonly spoken refugee languages) are highly beneficial.
  • Previous experience working with refugees, immigrants, or vulnerable populations is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, counseling, international studies, or related field.
