Software Engineer, DevOps, Full Stack Developer

Job Description

At Regions, the Software Engineer oversees application development, modification, and maintenance of applications. This position monitors system applications, ensures systems run smoothly, and creates reports and other documentation outlining findings and solutions. This position sits within Regions' Technology department.

• Oversees development and installation of new hardware and software
• Installs and configures systems and other software
• Tests installed software for malfunction detection
• Identifies and resolves business systems issues
• Designs and deploys new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operation systems
• Measures effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems
• Develops and implements strategies to improve systems
• Monitors and tests system performance
• Maintains full ownership of a process typically
• Ensures compliance with risk management programs, rules and regulations, and cybersecurity practices; identifies opportunities for and supports process improvements; applies disciplined change management practices
• May act as a procedural expert
• May lead the work of junior level associates

The position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
• Five (5) years of experience

• Ability to collaborate with programmers, developers, and other technology professionals to achieve a common objective
• Ability to conduct system analysis to detect issues with performance
• Ability to develop and implement technology solutions to resolve technical challenges
• Ability to interpret and ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and industry guidance
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Knowledge of software testing techniques, code optimization and software debugging
• Strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong executional capabilities
• Thorough understanding of software structures, hardware, computing systems and how to integrate them

Experience preferred: 6 to 10 years overall experience

• 6+ years of strong hands‑on experience in Python development using Python, Django
• 2 plus years of hands‑on Tableau experience building and maintaining reports and dashboards
• 4+ Experience building scalable and maintainable backend systems and APIs
• 2+ Experience designing and developing high data throughput, performant, and secure full stack applications
• 2+ Experience with Kafka for event driven architectures

• 6+ years of experience working with RDBMS systems
• Strong hands‑on experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL
• Experience in schema design, query optimization

• 3+ years of experience with containerization using Open Shift or AWS
• Experience deploying and managing applications in cloud environments

• Strong hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools such as Git Hub Actions and Harness
• Experience building automated pipelines for continuous integration and deployment

• Solid understanding of application architecture and distributed system design
• Understanding of cloud native patterns and scalable deployment strategies
• Strong knowledge of software design principles and enterprise integration patterns
• Experience writing clean, maintainable, and testable code
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills

• Hands on experience using Git Hub Copilot or similar AI assisted development tools
• Strong awareness of latest trends in AI and their application in software development

• Strong ownership mindset with a results driven approach
• Experience working independently and owning end to end delivery
• Proven ability to lead and mentor junior developers
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
