** Functions
* ** To maintain and promote the Tyson safety culture
* Receive training as required
* Perform various positions as required/assigned
** Description
* * This position is responsible for coordinating trailer and tanker traffic in the receiving yard and maintaining log of product loads while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
** Tasks
* * Applicants will be considered for any Yard Driver opening.  
** This position requires a current valid State driver’s license**. Must pass Tyson Yard/Lot Driver Assessment.
* Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds, shovel, climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet, bend, stretch, reach,  work in extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors.
* Must be able to use basic hand tools and perform basic mechanical and maintenance functions.
* Maintain clean work area by use of soap and high pressure hose.  Must be able to read to complete required logs.
* Must be able to communicate with supervisor and co-workers via two-way radio.
* May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
* May be required to operate front-end loader, man lift, or forklift and will be required to obtain certification to do so.
* Must operate yard truck in a safe manner at all times by following all safety procedures.
* Move correct trailer from yard to door and door to yard.
* Communicate with drivers in a respectful manner.
* Set reefer units at appropriate settings.
* Check to see if reefer units will start.
* Communicate with dispatcher and follow instructions.
* Chock trailers.
* Report any fuel or oil leaks to maintenance.
* Breaks must be staggered.
* Will be responsible for the cleanliness of the shuttle truck.
* Will do pre-inspection for safety and mechanical defects on shuttle truck at beginning of shift.
* Lot checks as requested by management.
* Other Duties as Assigned.
* Must be willing to tolerate extreme cold and extreme heat (12 hours per day).
* Must be willing to bend at waist and knees on a repetitive basis (12 hours per day).
* Must be willing to twist and turn (12 hours per day).
* Must be willing to climb in and out of truck cab on a continual basis (12 hours per day).
* Must be willing to walk a great deal (12 hours per day)
Requirements:
* ** Must be 18 years of age or older**
* ** Must have a valid driver’s license**
* ** Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months**
* ** Must have 6 months experience of tractor-trailer driving within the last 2 years.
**** Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
**** Rehire Rule of no more than  3 times worked at Tyson Foods.
