Sewer/Water Repairer 2 - Hopatcong Borough.

Is seeking a highly motivated Sewer/Water Repairer 2 for our Department of Public Works. Under direction, performs the more difficult tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of sewers and sewer equipment, and in clearing stoppages in main line and home sewer connections; may take the lead over a small crew; does other related duties as required.

• Repairs broken sewer lines.
• Replaces worn parts.
• Installs new sewer pipes.
• May take the lead over a small crew.
• Locates sewer drains, pipes, and appurtenances.
• Operates sewer equipment such as rodders, draggers, roto rooters, jetters and other small mechanical equipment.
• Performs manual and unskilled labor work as required.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs water main, pipes, valves, pumps, hydrants, and other equipment.
• Disassembles fire hydrants, removes defective parts, installs new parts, and reassemble hydrants.
• Replaces water valves.
• Digs trenches to remove defective pipes and to install new pipes and mains.
• Determine the presence and location of leaks, using a mechanical or electrical device.
• Ability to work for long periods in emergency situations, complete all repairs and use specialized tools and equipment.
• Locate curb stop boxes, using an electrical magnetic device.
• Locate customer service lines and water mains, using electronic piping locating device.
• Ability to work for long periods in emergency situations, complete all repairs, and use specialized tool.
• Winter clean up, which includes plowing, and salting.

• 2 Years’ experience in sewer installation or repair work in varied plumbing work and or in the operation and maintenance of sewer maintenance equipment.
• Valid water and/or wastewater operator license issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is a plus.
• Must Have Vaild Driver’s License as well as CDL Endorsement.

Full-time $31.71 - $37.89
