NOTE:
The pay range does NOT include store bonus options, sign-on and/or retention bonuses, or extra shifts, which are paid at straight hourly rates.
The PIC oversees all aspects of the retail pharmacy, with their main role being pharmacy employee supervision, prescription processing and patient interaction/communication. Additional duties include, but not limited to – prepare pharmacy for business; scheduling employees; finding replacements when scheduled employees are unable to cover; vacation approval and coverage; administrative and bookkeeping tasks; inventory control; and data entry. They must work well in a fast-paced environment and have strong customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities- Maintains records of all transactions of the pharmacy necessary to ensure accurate control over, and accountability for, all drugs as required by applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ensures legal operation and compliance of the pharmacy, including meeting all inspection and other requirements of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing pharmacy operations.
- Maintains accurate records of all prescription transactions and submits appropriate claims for third party reimbursement.
- Consults with physicians and nurses regarding pharmaceutical questions; advises physicians on formulary medications and cost effective and innovative therapies; answers pharmaceutical questions from patients and staff.
- Responsible for monitoring storage, distribution, and use of pharmaceuticals.
- Provides training, assigns duties, and provides input (in concert with Lead Tech) for performance evaluations.
- Documents and reports medication errors to direct supervisor, and insurance provider.
- Maintains close control over all operations at store level.
NOTE:
Pharmacist, including PIC, is required to:
1) Perform final check of all prescription(s);
2) Perform any type of counseling with patients;
3) Perform the pre-verification task; and,
4) Follow “all” requirements, regulations, and laws, currently maintained by the DEA, State Board of Pharmacy in which they hold a pharmacist license, and all other regulatory bodies that may apply.
- Registered and Licensed with State Board of Pharmacy required
- Experience as a Pharmacist in a retail environment required (5 years minimum preferred)
- Pharm
D or BS in Pharmacy - Immunization Certification is required
- Compounding experience or certification is a plus
- Proven focus on patient care is required
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Experience with Pioneer pharmacy system is a plus
