Job Duties
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position reports to the Director of Physical Plant. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Responsibilities- Makes minor repairs to the interior/exterior of buildings and facilities
- Maintains furniture and equipment
- Employs basic skills in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical
- Plants flowers, spreads mulch and other landscaping/ beautification needs
- Mows grass, cuts weeds, gathers, and removes trash from lawns
- Starts, operates, and checks for safety and maintenance on a wide variety of small engines, lawn mowers, and/or hand tools
- Maintains vehicles by changing oil and filters, replacing tires, repairing brakes, changing plugs, and other repairs, and keeps vehicle maintenance and repair records
- Cleans and replaces filters on air conditioners and performs minor repairs on central heating and air conditioning systems
- Delivers mail to campus and to the Post Office; delivers packages around campus
- Assists with event setup
- Performs other duties as assigned
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus, one year of experience or training in the building construction trades, general building maintenance, or in the repair or maintenance of mechanical equipment.
Salary Information$27,500.00
