We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction & Maintenance Technician I based in Hope, AR.
Position SummaryPerforms company field operations including manual labor and other duties necessary to accomplish the installation, repair, construction, and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems. Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and all applicable endorsements, be subject to random DOT drug and alcohol testing, maintain all necessary Operator Qualifications (OQ), and be on call after normal business hours for emergency response activities.
PrimaryDuties and Responsibilities
- Install, repair, or replace steel and plastic pipe.
- Provide First Responder assistance in emergency situations.
- Locate gas lines.
- Load and unload required equipment, tools, and supplies onto and from truck.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent knowledge of English, mathematics, punctuation, grammar, and spelling. No prior work experience required. Class A CDL and arc welding experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities- Able to pass written portion of commercial driver’s license (CDL) test within 12 months and attain complete CDL within 24 months.
- Able to obtain company plastic fusion certification within 12 months and company arc welding certification within 24 months.
- Able to learn to operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, trencher, and a two-ton or larger truck.
- Able to use the proper tools for any given job.
- Able to assist with plugging and tapping procedures.
- Able to assist in preparation of pipe for welding.
- Able to learn to use a personal computer, SAP, and mobile data.
- Able to demonstrate an aptitude for basic mechanical tasks.
- Able to respond well to changing priorities.
- Able to solve problems with logical solutions.
- Able to demonstrate and utilize effective oral and written communication skills.
- Able to listen effectively and clarify information as needed.
- Able to respond to customers with courtesy and knowledge.
- Able to participate successfully in a team environment to accomplish assignments.
- Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other company policies and procedures, taking all required training courses in a timely manner.

The position is covered under the D.O.T. regulations and Summit Utilities Drug and Alcohol Policy and is, therefore, subject to all terms of the Policy, including the random selection for drug testing.
