Asset Integrity and Reliability Engineer – Ashland LLC, Hopewell, VA
We are looking for an Asset Integrity and Reliability Engineer to join our maintenance function at Ashland LLC in Hopewell, Virginia. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager and focuses on safeguarding asset performance and operational reliability.
Responsibilities- Own and maintain the site Asset Integrity Management program for pressure vessels, piping systems, and atmospheric storage tanks in compliance with API 510, API 570, and API 653.
- Provide technical oversight of mechanical integrity programs, including inspection planning, risk‑based inspection, corrosion monitoring, and evaluation of inspection results.
- Perform and facilitate reliability engineering activities such as equipment criticality analysis, bad‑actor elimination, and root cause analysis to improve long‑term asset performance.
- Evaluate damage mechanisms, degradation trends, and conduct or review fitness‑for‑service assessments to support continued safe operation.
- Translate integrity and reliability findings into actionable maintenance strategies, work scopes, outage plans, and capital or repair recommendations.
- Develop, maintain, and audit engineering standards, inspection procedures, and asset documentation aligned with API codes and corporate requirements.
- Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for third‑party inspectors, NDE vendors, and repair contractors; review reports and ensure code‑compliant execution.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Planning, and Leadership teams to drive safe, reliable, and cost‑effective asset performance improvements.
- Actively contribute to organizational goals by taking initiative and focusing on performance and safety.
- Build collaborative relationships, optimize diverse talent, and utilize positive communications and influence with others.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering.
- 5‑8 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment supporting Fixed Equipment/Asset Integrity and Reliability.
- Experience with API 510, 570, and 653; certification preferred.
- Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times.
