Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse RN

Tri Cities Hospital, part of the HCA Virginia Health System, is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to adults and select pediatric patients undergoing same-day surgical and procedural services in our modern outpatient surgery department.

As an Outpatient Surgery RN, you will be responsible for guiding patients and their families through the entire perioperative experience, from pre-operative admission through post-anesthesia recovery and discharge. You will complete thorough nursing assessments, verify consents and pre-operative requirements, and prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery. In the operating room, you may function as a circulating or scrub nurse, maintaining sterile technique, anticipating the needs of surgeons and anesthesiologists, and advocating for patient safety at every step.

Following surgery, you will closely monitor vital signs, airway, pain levels, and overall status, provide targeted interventions, and ensure that patients meet safe discharge criteria.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, PACU staff, and support personnel in a fast-paced environment that demands strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and effective communication. Using our electronic medical record system, you will accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses, while adhering to all hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection prevention practices.
