Position: Patient Care Assistant - Medical Care - Hopewell - Full-Time - EVENINGS

Position Overview

The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part‑time).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Perform supportive patient care duties including ADLs, patient hygiene, vital signs, obtaining weights, emptying and documenting intake and output, performing phlebotomy and glucometer testing, EKGs, positioning, lifting and ambulation of patients.
  • Perform transports as requested (patients, medications, supplies, specimens).
  • Perform and record nursing care activities such as changes in a patient's condition and behavior consistent with established policies, procedures, and protocols, as delegated by the registered nurse responsible for the patient.
  • Perform job tasks in accordance with hospital and department policy and procedure, including appropriate use of equipment, machines, and protective barriers and safety equipment.
  • Stock and maintain supplies as required by the designated unit.
  • Document observations and activities on appropriate records and documents; report findings to the registered nurse.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent physical demands include: sitting, standing, walking, climbing (stairs or ladders), carrying objects, pushing/pulling, twisting, bending, reaching forward and overhead, squatting, kneeling, crawling, wrist position deviation, pinching/fine motor activities. Occasional demands include keyboard use and repetitive motion. Continuous demands include talking or hearing. Lifting: floor to waist 80 lbs, waist level and above 80 lbs. Sensory requirements: near vision 20/40, far vision 20/40, color discrimination, depth perception, hearing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education:

    High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience:

    Six months of Nursing Assistant/Health Aid experience or currently enrolled in LPN/RN nursing program preferred.
  • Other Credentials: AHA Heartsaver AED; non‑licensed must obtain before end of orientation period.
  • Knowledge and

    Skills:

    Proficient in English, verbal and written communication.
  • Special Training:
    Successful completion of the Capital Health UAP Training program within 90 days of employment.
