About Lowen Companies

Lowen Companies is an innovative and forward‑thinking construction firm dedicated to delivering high‑quality commercial and multifamily projects through transparency, collaboration, and efficiency. Our company values—Proud Partner, Radical Transparency, Character in Action, Grit & Determination, and Focused Simplicity—guide every project we undertake.

Position Overview

The General Superintendent serves as the field leader for Lowen Companies, responsible for ensuring all projects—particularly our unit renovation and multifamily portfolio work—are executed seamlessly and consistently across regions. This role requires a hands‑on leader who thrives in complex environments, maintains composure under pressure, and expects nothing short of excellence from their team. You’ll oversee scheduling, manpower allocation, safety, and quality across multiple jobs, working closely with project management, trade partners, and in‑house labor.

This position also plays a key role in developing our self‑perform capabilities, training field leaders, and setting standards that drive consistency and performance across all projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and in‑house labor (carpenters, laborers, painters, and demo crews).
  • Ensure all field operations meet or exceed project goals for schedule, safety, quality, and budget.
  • Oversee project startup and closeout processes, ensuring consistency and operational excellence.
  • Forecast and allocate manpower across multiple projects, ensuring that each site has what it needs to succeed.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers to identify issues early and drive proactive solutions.
  • Maintain rigorous jobsite safety standards and ensure compliance with all OSHA and company requirements.
  • Support implementation of standardized processes, including field reporting, quality control checklists, and safety documentation.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, verify quality, and reinforce company standards.
  • Act as a key point of communication between the office and field, ensuring alignment on priorities and expectations.
  • Represent Lowen Companies with professionalism, accountability, and transparency in all interactions.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED with 10 years of industry experience considered.
Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial or multifamily construction, including at least 3 years in a senior field leadership role.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects and teams simultaneously in fast‑paced environments.
  • Strong experience with self‑perform labor, including supervision of carpenters, laborers, and specialty crews.
  • Deep understanding of scheduling, logistics, and resource management across concurrent job sites.
  • Demonstrated success building strong relationships with owners, trade partners, and internal teams.
Technical Competencies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Proficiency with project management software (Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Procore).
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
Professional Competencies
  • Decisive, direct, and unafraid to take ownership and drive accountability.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to motivate and mentor diverse teams.
  • Exceptionally organized and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Uncompromising approach to quality, safety, and execution.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset—comfortable operating in a fast‑growing, evolving company.
Other Qualifications
  • Willingness to support additional company initiatives as needed.
  • Ability to perform physical site inspections, including stair climbing and extended walking.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor in representing Lowen Companies.
Working Conditions

Due to the nature of construction, working conditions may vary depending on project location and timeline. Lowen Companies is committed to providing a safe and effective work environment.

Location
  • Regional and national travel required as projects expand. Most projects today are located in the Twin Cities Metro Area but that is currently changing.

At Lowen Companies, safety is a top priority. No employee, subcontractor, or partner will be required to work in unsafe conditions. We foster a culture of accountability, where every team member is empowered to uphold the highest safety standards.
