Position: World Language - French Teacher

Summary

Provides high quality individualized instruction to middle school students. Will work with students to develop their language skills, comprehension, and fluency.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality instruction in French to middle school students.
  • Develop language skills, comprehension, and fluency.
  • Contribute to curriculum development with the district's French teachers.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborate with team to accomplish goals and district priorities.
Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Bachelor's degree in education, or a closely related field.
  • Valid Minnesota Teaching License
Qualifications
  • B.A. in French and MN teaching license for grades 7-12 or 5-12; demonstrated excellence in teaching French at the secondary level; strong interest in working with level I and II students at the middle school level; advanced proficiency in French; commitment to working with a diverse community of learners; interest in working collaboratively on curriculum development with the district's French teachers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience studying, working, or traveling in French-speaking countries; willingness to assist with co-curricular activities.
Required Knowledge
  • District policies and procedures.
  • Curriculum requirements and learning objectives.
  • State and Federal laws and regulatory issues governing public education, including rules and regulations of the Minnesota Department of Education.
  • Legal, ethical and professional rules of conduct for public education teachers.
  • Principles and techniques of making effective oral presentations.
  • Computer applications related to the work.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Required Skills
  • Developing and maintaining a public education learning environment in which positive, appropriate behavior is encouraged, and discipline problems are minimized.
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Operating a personal computer using standard and specialized software.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities.
  • Commitment to the District mission, which is to ensure high quality, innovative, challenging education where all learners are valued and respected.
  • Performing assigned responsibilities in a manner consistent with the District s established Core Values.

  • 1.0 FTE - 185 Days
  • HEA Union Contract
  • Range: BA, Step 0: $48,039.00; MA, Step 0: $52,223.00
