- Associates Degree
- Sixty semester hours of college credit
- Successful completion of the Para Pro Assessment (to be facilitated by the CPCSC)
Pay Information:
- 30 hours per week, following the school calendar
- $16.55 per hour
General
Purpose:
The Paraprofessional is to assist the teacher with the implementation of Individual Education Programs (IEPs) of students identified with disabilities. The role of the Paraprofessional is to work in a supportive capacity as part of a team to meet the needs of each student. Paraprofessional assistance may be provided across multiple settings such as special education classrooms, general education classrooms, and other designated learning environments within the school or community.
In addition, Paraprofessionals assist with classroom procedures that may include but are not limited to educational support, mobility support, vocational support, behavior support, assistance with functional skills, and physical or occupational therapy support.
- Support the educator/teacher's overall goals and objectives for each individual student
- Under a teacher's supervision, present subject matter information to students, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and techniques.
- Assist students individually or in groups with academic assignments and social skills to reinforce learning.
- May support activities of daily living including toileting, feeding and diapering.
- Maintain student and staff confidentiality
- Comply with standard rules, regulations, and procedures assigned by Building Principal and/or Department for Exceptional Education
- Be professional when dealing with students, staff, and parents
- Aid in the development and maintenance of a positive work environment
- Communicate concerns to the administrator or assigned teacher in a timely and professional manner
- Be on time and maintain good attendance, report to the requested area or work site
- Attend in-services upon notification, when provided during a school day
- Request teacher support when necessary or when more explanation is needed
- Communicate important information to the teacher concerning the student
- Utilize de-escalation verbal intervention techniques with students
- Follow team prescribed procedures for academic, social, communication and behavioral intervention plans
- Perform related duties as required

The position requires frequent changes in sitting, standing and walking throughout the day. The employee may also need to do frequent bending and/or kneeling in order to reach technology components.
