Restorative

Practices Support

Assists with the implementation of restorative practices and supports within the school.

Essential Functions:

  • Supports student de-escalation.
  • Instructs students in self-management strategies.
  • Consults and collaborates effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other education or community resources regarding building community, student behavioral concerns, and resolving conflict and students.
  • Forms and supports student affinity groups.
  • Assists with PD facilitation related to Restorative Practices/Justice in Education.
  • Provides individual support to students with identified behavioral concerns and needs.
  • Follows building disciplinary plans and District discipline policies.
  • Implements, monitors, and tracks building behavior systems.
  • Participates in building level student support meetings.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
  • Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:

Two (2) years post-secondary education OR a passing Para Pro Score. Two (2) years of student/family support services experience. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. Driver's License.

Required Knowledge and Skills Required Knowledge:
District policies and procedures. Applicable policies, procedures and regulations covering specific areas of assignment. Restorative Justice and Restorative Practices. Intercultural communications and interactional styles. Learning and behavioral management techniques. Local community resources and regional community services programs. Computer applications related to the work. Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Required Skills:

Monitoring and improving student behavior and learning skills. Assisting children and special needs students and assessing educational needs. Maintaining composure and working effectively under classroom conditions. Administering educational and school support programs. Reacting quickly to situations that could create personal stress and safety problems. Communicating effectively with children. Operating a personal computer using standard and specialized software.
