SummaryThe Educational Evaluator is responsible for conducting and interpreting psycho educational, academic, developmental, and educational assessments for students referred for special education evaluation services. This position may be filled by a licensed Special Education Teacher or a licensed School Psychologist with experience in assessment and evaluation practices. The Educational Evaluator works collaboratively as a member of the district's Child Find Assessment Team, which includes school psychologists and other multidisciplinary team members, to gather, analyze, and interpret data that supports eligibility determinations, educational planning, and the identification of student needs.
Working within Minnesota's multidisciplinary evaluation framework, the Educational Evaluator assists Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams in determining eligibility for special education services and identifying appropriate educational programming, accommodations, interventions, and supports. The position supports compliance with federal and Minnesota special education regulations and provides consultation and recommendations to staff and families on student learning, development, and educational planning.
Essential Functions- Serve as a member of the district's multidisciplinary Special Education Assessment Team.
- Review referral and screening information and collaborate with teams to determine evaluation needs.
- Develop and implement comprehensive evaluation plans in accordance with Minnesota Special Education regulations and district procedures.
- Gather and analyze historical, educational, developmental, behavioral, and assessment data from multiple sources.
- Administer, score, and interpret a variety of standardized and supplemental assessments to evaluate students' cognitive, academic, adaptive, developmental, social‑emotional, and behavioral functioning.
- Conduct classroom observations and collect functional performance data to support eligibility and programming decisions.
- Prepare comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation reports that clearly communicate assessment findings and educational implications.
- Present evaluation results and recommendations to parents, staff, and IEP teams.
- Participate in eligibility determination meetings and provide recommendations regarding educational programming, accommodations, interventions, and supports.
- Serve as a liaison between building‑level Student Assistance Teams, Child Find processes, and the Special Education Assessment Team.
- Collaborate with school psychologists and other multidisciplinary team members regarding referrals, assessment planning, eligibility determinations, and educational recommendations.
