Academic Support Teacher

The Academic Support Teacher plays a critical role in supporting student academic success by implementing targeted intervention strategies to address a range of learning needs and improve outcomes for all students. This position requires strong organizational skills, data analysis expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and families.

The Academic Support Teaching Assistant will work with the Academic Support Team and Department Coordinator(s)/Leads to support:

• Academic Support Implementation:
  Provide direct instruction to students in small or whole group settings (depending on student needs and program capacity), with preparation time equal to classroom teachers and time to perform administrative functions such as screening, progress monitoring, and compliance tasks (e.g., ACCESS testing, family communications, etc.). Deliver and support evidence-based academic and language interventions aligned to Tier I, II, and III supports for both EL and non-EL students.
  
  Monitor student progress through ongoing assessments and adjust intervention plans as needed to maximize effectiveness. Support and coach teachers in implementing differentiated instruction and intervention strategies to meet diverse student needs.
• Academic Support Program Coordination:
  Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of the school's English Learner (EL) and Response to Intervention (RTI) programs, ensuring alignment with state guidelines, best practices, and school initiatives. Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and support staff to establish procedures for identifying students needing additional academic or language supports and determining appropriate levels of services. Maintain documentation of interventions, progress monitoring data, and student outcomes to inform decision-making and evaluate program effectiveness.
  
  Provide training and support to staff on EL and RTI processes, including identification, intervention delivery, progress monitoring, and documentation protocols.
• Data Analysis and Assessment:
  Assist in collecting and analyzing academic and language development data to identify trends, patterns, and areas of need for intervention. Administer and interpret screening and diagnostic assessments to evaluate student progress, identify learning gaps, and inform instructional planning. Use data analysis tools and software to track student performance, monitor intervention fidelity, and support data-driven instructional decisions. Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement responsive instructional strategies that address the academic and language needs of all learners.
• Parent and Community Engagement:
  Collaborate with parents and caregivers to develop and implement intervention plans aligned with student needs and family priorities, Provide resources and support to families to reinforce academic and language learning municate regularly with families regarding student progress and opportunities for support and engagement.
• Supervise and Support as needed:
  Recess, lunch, hallway, bus - as assigned
