Provides students with intervention opportunities in reading, math, and writing; supports full-classroom learning experiences; monitors student progress. This position will also partner with our Kindergarten classes and will spend part to a majority of the day supporting the Kindergarten teacher and students.

Works with the whole class under the supervision of the classroom teacher. Reinforces the instructional plan laid out by the classroom teacher. Provides instructional assistance and motivates students in the areas of math, reading, and language. Facilitates and delivers practice activities designed to enrich and extend learning. Assists teachers with classroom activities; leads breakout sessions. Collaborates with students to create a safe, positive learning environment.

Monitors and reports progress of individual students to teachers. Supports adaptations in the learning environment based on observation of student performance and engagement. Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment. Supervises large groups of students in the lunchroom, playground, or the classroom.

Directs movement of groups to and from classrooms, playground, and lunchroom in a safe and organized manner. Assumes responsibility for monitoring student behavior; ensures student safety, administers appropriate consequences in response to unacceptable behavior, encourages peaceful resolution of conflicts, and reports unacceptable behavior to the principal, as needed. Makes suggestions for and supervises group games and activities on the playground.

Assumes responsibility for outdoor play equipment; reports safety hazards. Completes routine paperwork and performs record-keeping activities related to monitoring activities. Attends to minor medical needs including carrying and dispensing band-aids, providing cloths for nosebleeds, and other minor needs. Works with students individually or in small groups in and out of regular classrooms under the supervision of the classroom teacher. Reinforces the instructional plan laid out by the classroom teacher.

Provides instructional assistance and motivates students in all subject areas. Plans and prepares study aids such as flash cards and worksheets. Assists teacher with classroom activities; leads breakout sessions. Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis. Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff;

acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.

Education and Experience:

Two (2) years post-secondary education OR a passing Para Pro Score. Two (2) years of curriculum support experience. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
