Provides students with intervention opportunities in reading, math, and writing; supports full-classroom learning experiences; monitors student progress. This Position will also partner with our Kindergarten classes and will spend part to a majority of the day supporting the Kindergarten teacher and students

• Works with the whole class under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
• Reinforces the instructional plan laid out by the classroom teacher.
• Provides instructional assistance and motivates students in the areas of math, reading, and language.
• Facilitates and delivers practice activities designed to enrich and extend learning.
• Assists teachers with classroom activities; leads breakout sessions.
• Collaborates with students to create a safe, positive learning environment.
• Monitors and reports progress of individual students to teachers.
• Supports adaptations in the learning environment based on observation of student performance and engagement.
• Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
• Supervises large groups of students in the lunchroom, playground, or the classroom.
• Directs movement of groups to and from classrooms, playground, and lunchroom in a safe and organized manner.
• Assumes responsibility for monitoring student behavior; ensures student safety, administers appropriate consequences in response to unacceptable behavior, encourages peaceful resolution of conflicts, and reports unacceptable behavior to the principal, as needed.
• Makes suggestions for and supervises group games and activities on the playground.
• Assumes responsibility for outdoor play equipment; reports safety hazards.
• Completes routine paperwork and performs record-keeping activities related to monitoring activities.
• Attends to minor medical needs including carrying and dispensing band-aids, providing cloths for nosebleeds, and other minor needs.
• Works with students individually or in small groups in and out of regular classrooms under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
• Reinforces the instructional plan laid out by the classroom teacher.
