Immersion Program Coordinator

Hopkins Public Schools is seeking teacher leaders to serve as Immersion Program Coordinators for the Chinese and Spanish immersion pathways. These roles exist to strengthen Preschool
12 immersion programming through pathway alignment, program coherence, family engagement, and continuous improvement. Immersion Program Coordinators serve as connectors, facilitators, and system leaders who help ensure students experience high-quality, equitable immersion opportunities regardless of school, grade level, or language pathway.

Role Focus & Deliverables

  • Pathway Alignment & Program Coherence
  • Strengthen Preschool
    12 pathway alignment within the immersion program.
  • Support smooth transitions between preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school experiences.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to strengthen horizontal alignment across sites.
  • Support consistency in program expectations, student experiences, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Immersion Program Coordinator for the other language pathway to ensure equitable access to opportunities, coherent program expectations, and high-quality immersion experiences across programs.
  • Family & Community Engagement
  • Serve as a liaison between immersion stakeholders and district leadership.
  • Support family engagement and communication related to immersion programming.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications on recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Help build welcoming experiences for current and prospective immersion families.
  • Program Improvement & Strategic Planning
  • Support immersion program review and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Review program participation, enrollment, and outcome data.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen student experiences and program effectiveness.
  • Inform future planning and decision-making related to immersion programming.
  • Cultural and Community Partnerships
  • Develop and sustain partnerships that strengthen authentic language and cultural learning experiences.
  • Coordinate relationships with cultural organizations, community groups, educational institutions, cultural ambassadors, and international partners.
  • Identify opportunities for students to engage with language and culture beyond the classroom.
  • Support events, experiences, and programming that promote cultural competence, global awareness, and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with families, community partners, and district departments to expand access to cultural learning opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications
  • Minnesota teaching license.
  • Experience working in an immersion educational setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of immersion education and language acquisition.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across schools, departments, and stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to travel between district sites as needed.
  • Preferred Qualifications
