Position SummaryThe Facility Manager serves as the primary operational and strategic partner to the Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds, supporting the leadership, coordination, and continuous improvement of the district's facilities operations. This role plays a key leadership function in overseeing daily custodial, maintenance, grounds, and building systems operations while also contributing to long‑range planning, capital projects, compliance, and resource stewardship.
Guided by Vision 2031 and Hopkins' core values, the Facility Manager ensures that district facilities are safe, compliant, welcoming, inclusive, and sustainable environments for learning and work. By leading with authentic inclusivity and vigilant equity, this role helps create spaces where every student and staff member feels a sense of belonging. Through optimistic innovation, the Facility Manager embraces new approaches to energy efficiency, preventative maintenance, and operational effectiveness.
With humility of heart and love, this position leads teams with respect, accountability, and care for both people and the physical environments entrusted to the district.
This role directly contributes to the success of the District Strategic Plan by stewarding physical resources responsibly, supporting 21st‑century learning environments, and activating bold change through thoughtful facilities leadership.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in facility management (public school district experience preferred)
- Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory experience
- Strong organizational, financial, and technical skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities
- MASMS Facility Manager Certification preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- Technical certifications related to facilities operations (e.g., boiler, HVAC, pool operations) preferred or willingness to obtain
- Support the Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds in establishing and maintaining a comprehensive, responsive, and efficient facilities department.
- Supervise and manage daily custodial, maintenance, and grounds operations, including staff scheduling, work assignments, and service prioritization with a focus on fairness and vigilant equity.
- Serve as acting representative for the Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds in their absence.
- Respond to emergency situations during and outside of regular working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Design and lead onboarding, training, and professional development programs for custodial and maintenance staff, including training required by federal and state regulations.
