Overview
Operator II is a valued member of the EDCO Products Roll-forming team. This full-time, non-exempt position is based in Hopkins and reports to the Production Supervisor. This is a 1st shift position with normal working hours of Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. This individual is responsible for safely operating roll-forming machines. Products that Operator II is producing include siding, roofing, and rainwear products (soffit, fascia, gutters, etc.).
Responsibilities- Ensure that the line is safe to operate, and no other obstacles could create an unsafe workplace for Operator II and the packaging team.
- Ensure that all provided tools and approved chemicals are handy/ready to be used at the line.
- Follow daily production schedules with all priorities in line.
- Effectively communicate his request of material (coil) with the forklift driver following the schedule.
- Ensure all packaging materials are at the line, assembled and completed ready by packaging team.
- Perform a visual inspection of coils being assigned to the line when delivered by forklift driver.
- Verified the label on the coil to match the daily production schedule and work order.
- Using an RF scanner, scan coils into production with the schedule work order.
- Operates hoist to place coils of metal on and off an unwinder.
- Feeds metal into roll-forming machine.
- Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
- Adjusts machine to material and finished product requirements.
- Assures product quality by adjusting machine to remove burrs and sharp edges from material.
- Reports machine and product quality issues to production lead and/or production supervisor.
- Performs minor preventive maintenance such as oiling machines and dies. (Using only approved spray agents)
- Responsible for directing packers to pack, label, stack and transport finished work pieces in a timely manner.
- Execute General Housekeep and 5S at the end of workday.

Qualifications- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide inches and pounds, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read and understand tape measurers and calculators.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in.
- Must have the ability to be able to measure parts as part of quality checks.
- Must be comfortable with using technology (scanners, computers, etc.)

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred but not required.
- Requires the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Experience with hand tools (i.e., hacksaws, tin snips, wrenches, ratchets, hammers) and pneumatic hand tools (i.e., staplers) is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and any preventive maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must exhibit the willingness to learn all aspects of packaging with the potential for new ideas and is conscious of safety standards.
- Exhibits a high attention to detail in order to successfully meet finished product requirements and identify quality issues.
- A minimum of 16-18 months of manufacturing environment with proven mechanical experience is preferred.
- A minimum of 16-18 months of metal fabrication and/or machine operator experience within metal or plastic forming, punch press, break press, or printing with proven mechanical experience is preferred.
- Proven 12 consecutive months’ experience on any roll forming in siding or building material in addition to 6 months of proven mechanical experience and with packaging.
