Automation Engineer

Location: Hopkins, Minnesota (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking an Automation Test Engineer with expertise in Java, Selenium, and Rest Assured. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks for UI and API testing. The ideal candidate will focus on quality, automation best practices, and continuous improvement within the testing lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts for web applications using Selenium Web Driver with Java.
  • Build and maintain API test automation frameworks using Rest Assured.
  • Develop reusable, scalable, and maintainable automation frameworks.
  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA teams to understand requirements and define test strategies.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops, or Git Hub Actions.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing.
  • Analyze test results, debug issues, and provide detailed reports.
  • Ensure test coverage, traceability, and quality metrics are met.
  • Continuously improve automation processes and adopt best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong programming experience in Java.
  • Hands‑on experience with Selenium Web Driver.
  • Experience in API testing using Rest Assured.
  • Solid understanding of test automation frameworks like TestNG or JUnit.
  • Knowledge of Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
  • Familiarity with design patterns, such as Page Object Model.
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools and pipelines.
  • Familiarity with JSON/XML, HTTP protocols, and RESTful services.
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Playwright or modern automation frameworks like Cypress.
  • Exposure to progressive or next‑generation automation frameworks and tools.
  • Knowledge of other API testing tools or frameworks such as Karate, Postman/Newman, or Super Test.
  • Experience with BDD frameworks, for example, Cucumber.
  • Performance testing knowledge with tools like JMeter or Gatling.
