Software Engineer – Digital Transformation

U.S. Bank is seeking a Software Engineer who will contribute to the success of our technology initiatives in our digital transformation journey. The role will involve analysis, design, testing, development, and maintenance of high‑quality software experiences.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, operate, and maintain products.
  • Take full‑stack ownership by consistently writing production‑ready and testable code.
  • Create optimal design adhering to architectural best practices, considering scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Analyze failures, propose design changes, and encourage operational improvements.
  • Make sound design and coding decisions with customer experience in mind.
  • Incorporate feedback from code reviews and apply changes to meet standards.
  • Conduct code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures.
  • Ensure all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices.
  • Embrace emerging technology opportunities and contribute to best practices in support of the bank’s technology transformation.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Prioritize and size tasks appropriately for incremental delivery; anticipate and communicate blockers and delays before escalation.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Strong experience developing in Node.js or similar.
  • Proficiency with a modern front‑end framework such as Ember or React.
  • Strong skills in ETL pipelines, data warehousing, real‑time streaming, and big data frameworks (e.g., Spark).
  • Experience architecting and implementing high‑performing software applications.
  • Strong understanding of SQL and relational database modeling.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/Cloud Bees) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Agile software development lifecycle and Dev Ops principles expertise.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation for infrastructure, APIs, and components.
  • Adept at mentoring and coaching engineers of all skill levels.
Location Expectation

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
