SummaryScotty’s Contracting and Stone is seeking a skilled and dependable foreman to join our Heavy Civil Division. This position is responsible for overseeing work planning, material and truck scheduling, and the supervision of crew members and support staff (including flaggers). The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, quality-driven, and capable of managing productivity and project costs. This leadership role also requires regular interaction with the general public and transportation officials to ensure smooth and effective project execution.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate tasks and workflows based on project priorities and plans.
- Develop and maintain daily and weekly crew schedules.
- Assign responsibilities and delegate tasks to team members.
- Supervise, mentor, and train crew members to ensure productivity and safety.
- Ensure adequate manpower, materials, and equipment are available to meet project needs.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
- Identify and resolve jobsite issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide regular progress updates to project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in heavy civil construction.
- Ability to read blueprints, interpret grade stakes, and follow project plans.
- Knowledge of DOT standards, OSHA regulations, and jobsite safety practices.
- Skilled in coordinating crews, materials, and equipment to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Climbing:
Ability to safely climb on and off mobile equipment that is greater than 6 feet off the ground on uneven terrain multiple times daily. - Heights:
Ability to climb and work safely at heights exceeding 10 feet. - Balance:
Standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying. - Vision: 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, equipment, and obstructions.
- Hearing:
Corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions. - Postures:
Ability to transition between standing, sitting, and kneeling as needed during inspections or task direction. - Heavy lifting:
Lift and move parts and equipment up to 50 lbs from floor to shoulders, and up to 100 lbs with assistance. - Conditions:
Outdoors in a heavy civil construction environment with exposure to uneven terrain, dust, dirt, and varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
