Seeking a Mechanical Tool Designer with 5–7 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing automation. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in machine and tooling design, high-speed automation lines, material handling, SPMs, pick-and-place systems, robotic integration, and mechanical component selection. The role requires hands‑on proficiency with Solid Works and AutoCAD, strong engineering fundamentals, and the ability to coordinate mechanical design activities across onsite and offshore teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop automated manufacturing systems, SPMs, assembly equipment, tooling, fixtures, conveyors, and material handling systems.
  • Develop high-speed automation solutions incorporating pneumatic, servo, robotic, and pick‑and‑place technologies.
  • Design jigs, fixtures, tooling, transfer mechanisms, and machine components for manufacturing, assembly, testing, and inspection.
  • Perform engineering calculations involving strength, force, speed, horsepower, temperature, pressure, and related machine design parameters.
  • Create detailed drawings, working drawings, layouts, assemblies, and BOMs using Solid Works and AutoCAD.
  • Select and integrate standard mechanical components including LM Guides, servo motors, sensors, actuators, and other purchased components.
  • Perform bowl feeder selection and support part feeding and automated material handling solutions.
  • Review designs for manufacturability, machining requirements, material selection, finishes, hardness, and applicable standards.
  • Ensure designs comply with OSHA, CE, ISO, and customer‑specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with electrical designers and programmers on I/O requirements, machine sequences, controls, and system integration.
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, fabricators, machinists, toolmakers, electricians, and engineering teams to resolve design and integration issues.
  • Support machine debug, assembly, testing, commissioning, and final system integration.
  • Lead and delegate mechanical design activities for project teams of approximately 10–12 members.
  • Coordinate effectively with onsite and offshore engineering teams and communicate project progress, estimates, resource requirements, and deliverables.
  • Manage project documentation, drawing registers, requisitions, schedules, correspondence, and design records.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining mechanical design standards and procedures.
Skills Required
  • 5–7 years of mechanical design experience in industrial or manufacturing automation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Advanced proficiency in Solid Works and AutoCAD
    .
  • Strong experience with automation machinery, SPMs, tooling, fixtures, and high-speed automation lines
    .
  • Expertise in material handling equipment, conveyors, transfer mechanisms, and pick‑and‑place systems
    .
  • Experience with bowl feeders, sensors, pneumatic systems, servo systems, and robotic automation
    .
  • Strong knowledge of standard mechanical components such as LM Guides, servo motors, bearings, actuators, and related purchased components
    .
  • Understanding of electrical devices including switches, load cells, LVDTs, and related machine instrumentation.
  • Strong knowledge of machine design calculations, manufacturing processes, machining, materials, and tolerances.
  • Experience reviewing designs for OSHA, CE, ISO, and customer‑specific compliance
    .
  • Strong troubleshooting, conceptualization, problem‑solving, and design optimization skills.
  • Ability to lead mechanical design activities and coordinate onsite/offshore teams.
  • Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
