Job Summary
Permanent Building Substitute (10‑month)
Starting Date: Aug 31, 2026
Position Type: Part‑time (0.875 – 35 hours per week)
Salary: FY26 $ 22.76 per hour (FY27 salary TBD)
Location: Middle School, Hopkinton, Massachusetts

Responsibilities- Review all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
- Maintain the established routines and procedures of the district, school, classroom, and students to which assigned.
- Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which educators are subject, and which good teaching practices dictate.
- Teach the lesson as outlined in the educator’s substitute folder, consulting with the principal before initiating any teaching or other procedure not specified in the folder.
- Make appropriate use of media and instructional materials.
- Oversee student behavior in class and during lunch/recess periods, taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Obtain working knowledge of all emergency and crisis procedures, maintaining an instructional environment necessary for the safety, health and welfare of the students.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district or school policies and regulations, respecting confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in assigned grade/subject by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (not required, but considered a plus).
- Minimum of two years of college education required;
Bachelor’s degree considered a plus. - Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults.
- Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies.
- Other qualifications deemed appropriate by the Superintendent, in conformity with state certification requirements.
