Position: 27-01 Daily Substitute

Substitute Teacher, Substitute Paraprofessional, & Substitute School Nurse

Contingent (as needed); daily rate for Substitute Teachers and Paraprofessionals: $140, for Substitute Nurses: $210

This is the position of Substitute Teacher or Substitute Paraprofessional (Teacher's Assistant) within the Hopkinton Public School district. Duties:

In the absence of the classroom teacher, duties of the Substitute Teacher will include, but are not limited to:

Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and District policies;

Follows professional practices consistent with school and District policies in working with students, students' records, parents, and colleagues, and maintains the confidentiality of student and school personnel information;

Implements lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate, and assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students;

Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities;

Assumes responsibility for supervising students both in- and out-of-class settings;

Performs other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/District policies and practices.

Qualifications:

To be considered qualified for the position of Substitute Teacher or Substitute Paraprofessional, candidates must have/be:

Completed a minimum of two years at an accredited college or university;

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults;

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate, and in conformity with state certification requirements.
