Test Engineer - Precision Systems

Role Overview

We have an immediate opening for aTest Engineer to work in our manufacturing engineering department based in our Hopkinton, MA location. This is a full-time role, Monday-Friday. This position will be responsible for the final testing of precision machinery, automation systems, and motion control systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform product verification testing in a production environment.
  
  Tests are performed using a variety of precision measurement instruments, including laser interferometers, autocollimators, force gauges, height gauges, and indicator probes.
• Perform setup and operation of PC-based servo motion control systems.
• Create final test reports to be included in delivery to customers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems found during testing.
• Develop, modify, and use Python and LabVIEW test automation programs (Especially Python).
• Support production activities as required to achieve the goalsofthe entire department, with a focus on on-time delivery and excellent quality.
• Report failures and defects via company quality processes.
• Cooperate with others in a team effort to achieve quality, safety,and productivity goals.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering onprocedure writing,fixture development, process improvements,root cause analysis,corrective actions, and any other measures needed to drive continuous improvement within the group.
• Support the Service group by performing incoming analysis of returned defective products/systems.
• Perform data analysis to support SPC, KPI tracking, and Product Development.

Education & Experience

• BS Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Skills & Requirements

• Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to perform complex mechanical tasks and perform precision alignments and measurements.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work activities.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read, edit, and use Python and LabVIEW software.
• Ability to design digital control systems based on frequency and time domain analysis (desirable but not required).
• Automotive experience desirable but not required.
