Lab Support Senior Engineer
Lab Support Engineering is at the heart of a worldwide lab operations team providing 24x7 lab access, service and solutions support in multiple locations. Independent and flexible, team members are always ready to adapt to changing daily priorities. They make an impact in all kinds of ways – from installing and maintaining servers and storage equipment within a fast‑paced AI lab computing environment, to providing top‑level technical expertise and support to engineering departmental users.
They work with engineering teams to create hardware configuration test plans in support of software and AI solutions development.
- Deploy innovative solutions and infrastructure for the product development engineering team and support their needs throughout the product development life cycle.
- Partner with various product engineering teams to understand infrastructure needs, deploy hardware, install and configure network, manage software, and troubleshoot across the stack (hardware, OS, network, software).
- Build and support development and testing environments in the Next Generation Engineering Lab Infrastructure program for unstructured and file storage products.
- Act as the SME for the Shared Services Lab Operations Engineering team.
- Partner with the Product Engineering team in creating solutions for their requirements and needs.
- Build and support development and testing environments consisting of storage products, servers, and switches.
- Manage inventory and asset database.
- Lead a team in executing large projects and programs.
- Develop and document processes needed in Lab Operations.
- Mentor other lab support engineers on various technologies.
- Deep knowledge of various hardware platforms, especially Dell Power Edge platform.
- Hands‑on experience deploying hardware – rack, stack, cable, install, and configure.
- Practical experience with scale‑out architecture, preferably installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Hands‑on experience with networking products – Cisco, Arista, Dell switches.
- Physical installation of hardware.
- Technical configurations of systems (storage, operating systems, top‑of‑rack switches).
- Asset management and inventory control.
- Expertise in using ticketing tools like Service Now.
- Experience with enterprise infrastructure monitoring tools.
- Communication across various stakeholders.
- Ability to bring consensus between teams and competing priorities.
- Great customer service skills – helping the customer resolve issues and finding root cause.
- Experience with Agile Scrum development process.
- Experience with Scrum at scale in shared services model.
- Experience automating deployments – preferably Infrastructure as Code.
- Knowledge and experience building infrastructure automation.
- Knowledge and experience using AI tools to monitor infrastructure services.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
- Creating workable solutions for complex scenarios.
- Mentoring and training less experienced engineers.
- Experience with Service Now/Jira.
- Power Switch administration (OS10 / Sonic).
- Windows/Linux system management.
- Power scale / ECS administration.
- Infrastructure Automation.
Salary range: 96,800. USD Annual.
