Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Implement standards into every day teaching

* Use formative assessments

* Implement district adopted curricula successfully

* Collaborate with others to improve teaching and learning

* Develop positive student management strategies

* Develop and maintain positive parent communications

* Provide assistance and guidance to individual students

* Assess student learning

* Maintain student records including daily grades, attendance reports and others as required

* Enforces school rules and monitors student behavior in non-classroom settings

* Works cooperatively with administration

Minimum Qualifications:

* Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate

* Appropriate Endorsement required

* Prior experience in an elementary setting preferred but not required

* ELL or bilingual preferred, not required

* Understanding and ability to implement the Common Core State Standards at grade level

* Evidence of positive classroom management

* Evidence of ability to implement a variety of research based teaching strategies

* Prior training in formative assessment, and Safe and Civil Schools preferred, but not required

* Must possess or acquire and maintain a valid Washington State Driver's license

* As a condition of employment, newly-hired employees must obtain Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint background clearance and furnish proof of identity and employment authorization status

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear in order to communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, staff and community members. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is required to be able to sit; use hands to keyboard, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and to reach with hands and arms and carry objects.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of being mobile to move throughout the school facilities, grounds and community settings.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary: $200 a day

Benefits:
One hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Position not anticipated to work 630 hours per year so does not qualify for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check.
