Honor Society Advisor

Hoquiam School District No. 28 is seeking an Honor Society Advisor to coordinate and support the school's honor society program. This position involves student recruitment, member selection and participation, meetings, service activities, fundraising, and other program functions. The Advisor works collaboratively with students, staff, families, and the Principal/designee to provide meaningful opportunities for students to demonstrate leadership, scholarship, service, and character.

The Advisor will supervise students and attend applicable district, regional, state, and other events or activities as required. The Advisor is expected to conduct all program activities in accordance with district policies, school expectations, and applicable rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with honor society members and encourage student leadership, responsibility, and service.
  • Recruit and encourage eligible students to participate in the honor society program.
  • Supervise students during meetings, activities, events, service projects, and other program functions.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, families, administrators, and community members.
  • Serve as a positive role model and promote a culture of respect, responsibility, integrity, and service.
  • Coordinate with the Principal/designee regarding program activities, student concerns, and other matters as needed.
  • Develop and facilitate opportunities that promote scholarship, leadership, service, and character development.
  • Plan and conduct honor society meetings and activities.
  • Support students in developing and completing meaningful service projects and other activities.
  • Prepare students for participation in applicable district, regional, state, and other honor society events or activities.
  • Attend required training and professional development related to the program.
  • Maintain awareness of applicable honor society, school, district, and activity requirements.
  • Provide students with a variety of opportunities to demonstrate leadership and contribute to the school and community.
  • Coordinate activities that allow students to apply their skills and interests in meaningful ways.
  • Develop a program budget and manage program resources in accordance with district and building procedures.
  • Conduct fundraising activities consistent with district and building policies.
  • Complete necessary travel requests and other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate schedules and activities with the Principal/designee to ensure program requirements are met.
  • Develop and coordinate service opportunities that connect honor society students with the school and broader community.
  • Promote student involvement in community service and leadership activities.
  • Communicate with community organizations, staff, families, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Coordinate publicity and communication regarding honor society activities as needed and in accordance with district expectations.
  • Attend district, regional, state, or other events when applicable.
  • Support opportunities that highlight student contributions and strengthen connections between the school and community.
Qualifications
  • Possess a current Washington State Teaching Certificate.
  • Possess a current Washington State driver's license or equivalent.
  • Possess a Type II training endorsement, as applicable.
  • Membership on the Hoquiam School District staff preferred.
  • Possess a current First Aid/CPR certificate or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students outside the regular school day.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple activities and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, administrators, and community partners.

Salary:
Position paid stipend based on HTA CBA $224.98 per point - depending on experience.

Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check.
